Dear Diary,

Last night at WFMU was magical! I met Frangry there so that we could rehearse our number with the Hoof & Mouth Sinfonia! There were cookies and beers, and almost everyone was in a good mood because of the Marathon! While we waited our turn with the band, Mr. Tom Scharpling was good-naturedly shouting for pledges on his radio show and handing out vegan cupcakes during his breaks! I brushed shoulders (Literally! I even said, “Excuse me”!) with Mr. John Hodgman (“I’m a PC!” he didn’t say), and actually saw Mr. Patton Oswalt check his email in the WFMU Volunteer Room! Then we were called down to Studio A to “rock it out” with the live band! I barely remember what happened next! it was more fun than a tickle fight! Then it was time to go home to bed! Oh, Diary, I think I shan’t ever have an evening so exciting and magical again! At least until this Friday’s Shut Up, Weirdo’s Marathon Show, Part II! Good night, and sweet dreams, Diary!

Tonight Andy and Frangry of Shut Up, Weirdo will be rehearsing with the entire WFMU Hoof & Mouth Sinfonia in preparation for our joint March 14 debut at ~~Carnegie Hall~~ Maxwell’s in Hoboken. The awesomeness begins at 7pm Sunday and will be simulcast over the WFMU network, which is just one single station, unless you count the Internet.

Side note of interest: During our rehearsal time tonight, John Hodgman will also be at WFMU, participating in tonight’s Best Show. I mention that only because posts mentioning John Hodgman seem to get an automatic reblog over at F**k Yeah John Hodgman, which seems like a ripe new audience for future Shut Up, Weirdo listeners.

On Friday’s marathon show we gave away Patton Oswalt’s latest CD-DVD combo, My Weakness Is Strong.

If you, like Frangry, are unfamiliar with Mr. Oswalt’s comedy oeuvre, you owe it to yourself to take a few minutes to watch the Weakness excerpt above, regarding depression, dogs, and our post-apocalyptic hellscape future. Andy loves this. It changed his life. (Warning: Mr. Oswalt is not always reserved in his use of profanity.)

You see this bitchin’ car? Nice, right? It’s a BMW—not sure what year or how many miles on it—but this cool used car is selling at a dealer in Gladstone, Missouri, for EXACTLY the same amount that Andy and Frangry raised during their first 2010 marathon show: $4,770. Coincidence? Andy used to have a BMW when he lived in L.A.! (Though it was black 1980 320i, different from this model, but it also had TWO DOORS. Really spooky, right?)
